Gabon/ Étienne Francky Meba Ondo: what independence are we talking about 62 years later ?

In communication, we say: « Information is power ». That is. but, to get information in Gabon, Gabonese must, on the one hand, go through the daily « L’union » which, contrary to what many Gabonese believe, is indeed a private newspaper.

« L’Union » which was preferred to the newspaper « Gabon Matin » by the current leaders since they are there for certain shareholders. Thus sacrificing the public newspaper « Gabon Matin » which belongs to the Gabonese Press Agency.

Here is the meaning of independence in Gabon after 62 years. far from pompous speeches. Let’s find out if the French are not accomplices behind this story.

It is also in this logic that the Gabonese press is continually being killed by granting the monopoly of PAID advertising and institutional communication to « L’Union ». to then share the profits and dividends between French and Gabonese accomplices of these unpatriotic choices.

Otherwise, how does a newspaper like « L’Union », which appears in full color on about thirty pages, make a profit by selling daily at only 500 FCFA? while 8-page « black and white » newspapers cost more, ie 600 FCFA on average, and only come out with difficulty?

Can we speak of independence when Gabonese are thus prevented from financially empowering themselves in their own country?

When it’s not « L’Union », you need to get information in Gabon through the Canal+ bouquet of Mr. Bolloré. Another Frenchman.

Access to public information must be non-commercial. Not to say free. but, for years, we have not been able to receive a national channel for free and without going through Bolloré. Without paying a subscription. The most basic public information is now chargeable.

Are we then independent at this level? does the Constitution require public information to be a marketable good? Nope !

However, Bolloré and the Gabonese leaders are aware that the public media in France are free. according to the CSA (the regulatory agency, the equivalent of the HAC in Gabon), it is the suppliers who bear the costs of this free service. here in Gabon, not only do you pay to have a decoder and a minimum monthly subscription of 5000 FCFA, but you also have to pay 500 FCFA more for the RAC (Audiovisual and Cinematographic Royalty). even though these media are the property of the Gabonese Democratic Party and forbidden to democratize.

What independence are we talking about then ?

To eat, we go to the « backs turned » or the « cafète ». Places owned by a majority of expatriates. likewise, to buy frozen food, our Lebanese and Mauritanian friends hold the market.

What independence are we talking about ?

to buy a car, either you go to Kerangall and its industrial zone of Oloumi, or you go to see our Lebanese friends scattered with their stores in Libreville. Otherwise, you go through the Cameroon black market for cars over 5 years old.

What independence are we talking about ?

at the political level, we are subject to the illegitimate diktat of Ali, Sylvia, Noureddin, Oceni, Accrombessi… Those who still have one foot in Gabon, one foot abroad. Always a hint of dual nationality. and when they have finished enjoying Gabon like Lebanon or Accrombessi, they flee abroad. Leaving us, we who only have Gabon, in deep shit and an unprecedented debt of more than 7000 billion FCFA. Failing to send some to prison.

What independence are we talking about ?

Who controls telecommunications in Gabon, especially Gabon Telecom? Moroccans? Who controls the major banks? Moroccans? Ivorians?

What independence are we talking about ?

Who controls our ports for the entry of consumer goods? GSEZ or OLAM? Who controls the airport? GSEZ or OLAM? Who owns the famous Transgabonaise market? who has invested in hectares of oil palm plantations in Gabon, while the liter of frying oil has gone from less than 1000 to 1500 FCFA? Who is responsible ? OLAM? ARISE OR GSEZ?

What independence are we talking about ?

After 62 years of existence, neighborhood shops, vulcanizers, restaurants, taxis, dressmakers, local merchants for the deposit and withdrawal of money, for the purchase of ski passes, for the payment of our electricity bills… almost everything is owned by expatriates.

And, to drive the point home and knowing the Gabonese inferiority complex, we are brought KFC and other Paul. Look at us showing off in these places… The others are making money… while we are just proud to move into their beautiful buildings to spend our money there.

What independence are we talking about ?

All our intersections are infested with expatriate and itinerant traders, who play « hide and seek » with the agents of the Town Hall and the police. in the total indifference of the Gabonese who, on the contrary, encourage this anarchy and this black market which do not care about taxes and taxes.

In which serious country in the world of foreigners can they feel so free to taunt the State, if the native populations are not consenting? If the administration and the political power are not accomplices? that the Gabonese Democratic Party and its president then stop telling us stories. They are responsible for this letting go.

What independence are we talking about ?

Who diverted the Gabonese from the Cocoa and Coffee trade, from agriculture and forestry sites? who has made us slaves to the public service and private companies subject to political power? An environment that has only one rule: « When dirty money speaks, the truth is silent! »

This is the breeding ground for indignity and the acceptance of all defilements against our consciences, in exchange for our own public money.

What independence are we talking about ?

Why did President Léon Mba, who appears on the bust in my illustration photo, not want this artificial independence?

62 years earlier, had he predicted this mess? Had he read the hypocrisy of France?

It’s up to everyone to answer.

Since we are only good for feasting. And all those who have held our country hostage are aware of this.

« The Gabonese will sell father, mother and the whole country for easy money. They have no dignity, these Gabonese », we hear.

We could spend the whole day talking about it… I prefer to stop here.

August 17 will then remain an ordinary day for me until we wake up from our pretenses.
